How to quickly transfer money card-to-card with PrivatBank: methods, fees, limits and safety.

A card-to-card transfer is one of the most common ways to send money. With PrivatBank you can do it in a minute via the Privat24 app, on the website or by phone number — even if the recipient's card belongs to another bank. Let's cover all the methods, fees, safety and what to do if a transfer doesn't arrive.

Transfer methods

  • in Privat24 — the app or web cabinet, the fastest way;
  • by phone number — if the recipient's number is linked to a card;
  • on the "card-to-card transfer" website — no registration, by card numbers;
  • a PrivatBank self-service terminal.

Step-by-step via Privat24

  1. Open the app and select the card you are transferring from.
  2. Tap "Transfer" → "To a card".
  3. Enter the recipient's card number (16 digits) or pick a saved one.
  4. Enter the amount and check the details.
  5. Confirm the transfer with a code or biometrics. Money usually arrives instantly.

Transfer by phone number

If you don't know the recipient's card number, you can transfer by their phone number — provided the number is linked to a PrivatBank card. In "Transfer" choose "By phone number", pick the number from contacts, enter the amount and confirm. It's convenient and safe because you don't need to ask for the full card number.

Transfer to another bank's card

PrivatBank lets you transfer money to cards of other Ukrainian banks by card number. The steps are the same, but the fee and crediting time may differ depending on the recipient's bank. The app shows the fee before you confirm.

Fees and limits

Transfers between your own PrivatBank cards are usually free. A transfer to another person's card or another bank may carry a fee, shown before you confirm. Daily and monthly transfer limits apply; see current values in the app. For large amounts the limit can be changed in the card settings.

How to save a template or auto-payment

  • after a transfer the app offers to save the recipient as a template — next time the transfer is one tap;
  • for recurring transfers (e.g. monthly), you can set up an auto-payment for a set date and amount.

If the transfer doesn't arrive

  • check the operation status in "History" — it shows whether the transfer was completed;
  • transfers to other banks' cards sometimes credit within minutes or hours;
  • make sure you entered the recipient's card number correctly;
  • if the money was debited but not credited for over a day — contact the hotline 3700 with the operation details.

Safety tips

  • always check the recipient's card number before confirming;
  • don't transfer money to strangers and never share your CVV or SMS codes;
  • remember: only the card number is needed to receive a transfer — no one should ask you for other details (CVV, expiry, codes);
  • be careful with "prepayments" on classifieds — a common fraud scheme.
