How to top up a PrivatBank card

6 min read

All the ways to top up a PrivatBank card: transfer, terminal, cash and top-up from another bank.

You can top up a PrivatBank card in several ways — online in a minute by transfer, or with cash via a terminal or branch. Let's cover all options, fees, how to set up auto top-up and what to do if the money isn't credited.

Top-up methods

  • a transfer in Privat24 — from another of your cards or from another person;
  • by phone number — if the number is linked to a card;
  • a self-service terminal — cash to the card number;
  • a branch cash desk — cash with your passport;
  • a transfer from another bank's card — by card number;
  • a top-up from abroad — an international transfer to the account details.

Topping up online via Privat24

  1. Open the app and select the card you are topping up.
  2. Tap "Top up" or make a transfer from another of your cards.
  3. Enter the amount and confirm — funds arrive instantly.

Topping up with cash

At a self-service terminal choose "Card top-up", enter the card number, insert the cash and confirm — money is credited within a few minutes. At a branch a teller tops up the card by its number and your passport. Note: some third-party terminals may charge a fee.

How to set up auto top-up

To always keep funds on a card (e.g. for recurring payments or a kids card), in Privat24 you can set up auto top-up: choose the source card, the amount and the condition (on a schedule or when the balance drops below a set level). Top-ups then happen automatically.

If the money isn't credited

  • check the operation status in "History" — it shows whether the payment went through;
  • cash top-up via a terminal is sometimes credited within a few minutes;
  • a transfer from another bank's card may take longer — up to a few hours;
  • make sure you entered the card number correctly;
  • if the money was debited/deposited but not credited for over a day — contact the hotline 3700 with the receipt or operation details.

FAQ

Is there a fee for topping up?

Topping up your own card by transfer is usually free; some third-party services or other networks' terminals may charge a fee, shown before you confirm.

How fast are funds credited?

Online top-ups and transfers between PrivatBank cards are usually instant; cash via a terminal — within minutes; from other banks — sometimes longer.

Can I top up a card from abroad?

Yes — by an international transfer to the card/account details (IBAN + the bank's SWIFT). Account for the fees and crediting time of such a transfer.

Can I top up someone else's card?

Yes, just the recipient's card number is enough. Other details (CVV, expiry) are not needed for a top-up — never share them.

Terms and fees may change — check current details in the Privat24 app or on the bank's website. Hotline — 3700.
