Currency exchange rate at PrivatBank: where to check and how to exchange

6 min read

Where to check PrivatBank's current exchange rate and how to exchange currency online in Privat24 without a branch visit.

PrivatBank lets you check the current exchange rate and exchange money online — in the Privat24 app, with no queues or branch visit. Let's look at where to find the rate, the difference between the cash and non-cash rate, how to exchange favourably and what limits apply.

Where to check the exchange rate

  • in the Privat24 app — the "Currencies" or "Exchange rates" section;
  • on the bank's official website;
  • on our website in the rates section — to instantly compare PrivatBank's rate with other banks and pick a better one.

Cash vs non-cash rate — what's the difference

These are two different things and shouldn't be confused:

  • the non-cash (online) rate — you exchange currency in the app between your own accounts; usually more favourable;
  • the cash rate — used to buy/sell cash at a branch or exchange point; it's slightly different.

So the rate in the app and the rate on the branch board may differ — that's normal.

How to exchange currency online

  1. Open Privat24 and go to "Currencies".
  2. Choose the direction (e.g. USD → UAH) and the amount.
  3. Check the rate and the resulting amount, then confirm.
  4. Funds are credited to your card or account in the required currency.

When it's better to exchange

  • the rate changes during the day — for large sums, watch the dynamics;
  • compare the bank's rate with the interbank one and with other banks (convenient on our website);
  • for regular needs a multi-currency account is useful — keep funds in several currencies and convert at a good moment.

Exchange limits

Currency operations may be subject to NBU regulatory restrictions and the bank's internal limits (daily/monthly amounts). Check current restrictions and the available limit for your account in the app before a large operation.

FAQ

Can I exchange currency without a fee?

Online exchange in the app usually happens at the bank's rate with no separate fee, but the value depends on the buy/sell spread. Check the resulting amount before confirming.

Why is the rate different in the app and at a branch?

Because these are the non-cash and cash rates — they are set separately. The online rate is usually more favourable.

Are there exchange limits?

Yes, regulatory and bank limits on amounts may apply. See current values in the app.

How do I find the best rate?

Compare PrivatBank's rate with other banks in the rate comparison on our website — it instantly shows where it's better today.
