Revenues of the military levy exceeded UAH 94 billion
According to the Ministry of Finance, in January-June 2026, the general fund of the state budget received almost UAH 94.24 billion of military levies.
For comparison, for the entire year of 2025, revenues from this payment amounted to UAH 163.6 billion, which indicates the important role of the military levy in financing state needs during the war.
Since July 1, the mechanism for using funds has changed
From July 1, 2026, the military levy will no longer be included in the general fund of the budget. According to the changes adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, all proceeds from this payment are now directed to a special fund of the state budget.
This means that the funds will be used exclusively for the financial support of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Already on the first day, the special fund received more than UAH 350 million
The new financing mechanism started working immediately after the changes came into force.
Only on July 1, the special fund of the state budget received UAH 353.2 million of military levies, which was the first result of the updated system.
The defense budget of Ukraine has been significantly increased
The transition of the military levy to a special fund took place at the same time as a large-scale revision of the state budget.
In June, the parliament increased spending on the security and defense sector by UAH 1.56 trillion, a significant part of which is provided by the European credit program Ukraine Support Loan. As a result, the total resource provided for financing the defense of Ukraine increased to UAH 4.37 trillion.
The army is not only financed by the military levy
The military levy, which has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, remains one of the key sources of financing defense needs. At the same time, the provision of the army is also carried out at the expense of other tax revenues, in particular, value added tax, corporate income tax, personal income tax, excise taxes, as well as funds raised through domestic state loan bonds.
Payment details have been changed for payers
In connection with the transfer of the military levy to a special fund, the details for its payment were changed. The new accounts are used both for individual entrepreneurs, and for legal entities and employees.
The Ministry of Finance notes that in cases where the military levy was paid in advance, the funds should be credited to new budget accounts in accordance with the updated procedure.
