Salaries of testers have increased in Ukraine: Automation QA earns the most

The greatest growth is among experienced specialists

The most noticeable salary increase was recorded among experienced specialists. Specifically, in Automation QA, the Team Lead salary increased to $4,800, and one in three testers received a promotion in the last six months. Overall, Head/Managers remain the highest paid professionals with a median salary of $5,000, followed by QA Tech Lead ($4,575), QA Team Lead ($3,500), Senior QA Engineer ($3,200), Middle QA Engineer ($1,900) and Junior QA Engineer ($890).

Which technologies pay the best

More than half of Ukrainian testers use programming languages in their work. C#/.NET ($3,275), Java ($3,200), and TypeScript ($3,050) had the highest median salaries. The incomes of QA specialists who use JavaScript (+$400) and SQL (+$350) have grown the fastest over the past six months. Among Lead+ professionals, the highest paid are those who work with Python, with a median salary of $4,500.

Where testers earn the most

In Kyiv and Lviv, the median salary of QA specialists is $2,500, in Dnipro, Ternopil, and Poltava — $2,300. The highest figure was recorded in Zhytomyr — $2,750, although the researchers note that the sample for this city was small. At the same time, the largest confirmed increase in salaries was recorded in Cherkassy and Ternopil, which, according to analysts, may be related to the internal migration of IT specialists.

Ukrainian QAs earn more abroad

The study also showed that Ukrainian testers working abroad receive higher salaries than their counterparts in Ukraine. The median income of such specialists is $3,300 versus $2,310 in Ukraine. The results confirm that the demand for qualified QA specialists remains high both on the Ukrainian and international labor markets.
