Prices for soybeans, sunflowers and rapeseed are decreasing: what is happening on the Ukrainian and world markets

Ukrainian market: export difficulties put pressure on prices

Due to the Russian shelling of the port infrastructure and civilian ships, since July 22, the entry of ships to Ukrainian ports has practically stopped. This significantly reduced the export demand for rapeseed, soybeans and their processing products, forcing processors to review their purchase prices.

Now rapeseed purchase by 20–21 thousand UAH per ton, sunflower became cheaper with 32–33 thousand hryvnias to 27–29 thousand UAH per ton, a soy descended to 18–19 thousand UAH per ton, despite the limited remains of last year's harvest. At the same time, traders are looking for alternative export routes through the western border, but more expensive logistics continue to hold down domestic prices.

World market: Rising yields increase pressure

The situation in the world has an additional influence on the Ukrainian market. Soybean and canola stock prices are lower due to increased supply of the new crop and favorable weather conditions in the US.

Over the past week, November soybean futures on the Chicago Stock Exchange fell by 4% — up to 437 dollars per ton. At the same time, in the US, the share of soybean crops in good or excellent condition decreased to 63%, although overall weather conditions remain favorable for the future harvest.

China's record imports and Brazil's big harvests

Demand from China remains high. In June, the country imported 13.55 million tons of soybeans, which became a record for this month and on 15% morethan in May.

At the same time, Brazil expects a record soybean harvest — 180 million tons in the 2025/26 season vs 172.5 million tons a year earlier The country's exports can grow to 115 million tons, so the world market will remain well supplied with products. That is why it is even possible to reduce Ukrainian exports by 1–2 million tons will not significantly affect world prices.
