According to the results of the study, in 2025, Ukrainians placed about 196 million online orders for a total amount of approximately UAH 256 billion. The average check was about UAH 1,320, and the market itself grew almost 1.8 times compared to 2021.
At the same time, purchases at foreign sites remain significantly more expensive. If in Ukrainian online stores the average amount of an order was UAH 1,150–1,250, then on foreign platforms it reached UAH 2,100–2,600. The increase in the number of such purchases also affected the growth of the average check.
Mobile payments are gaining popularity
More and more Ukrainians make purchases from smartphones. In 2025, about 60% of online orders will be made from mobile devices, and Apple Pay and Google Pay will account for more than half of all online payments.
NBU statistics confirm the trend
According to the National Bank of Ukraine, during 2025, Ukrainians made more than 9 billion cashless card transactions in the amount of UAH 4.68 trillion. Online payments made up 13.9% of the total number of such transactions and 16.4% of their monetary volume.
The average amount of one online card transaction per year increased to UAH 608, and the number of tokenized bank cards tied to smartphones and other devices increased by almost 26% and exceeded 20.7 million.
The first months of 2026 showed further growth
In the first quarter of 2026, the average amount of online card payment reached UAH 654, which is 13% more than a year earlier. The share of online payments also continued to increase both in terms of the number of transactions and their volume.
At the same time, the total monetary turnover of non-cash payments grew much faster than the number of transactions, which indicates a further increase in the average spending of Ukrainians during online shopping.
The costs of Ukrainians remain high
Previous studies also show that most Ukrainians regularly spend money on transport, eating out, coffee and snacks. At the same time, a significant part of citizens notes the growth of their own expenses over the last year, although some consumers continue to look for opportunities to save.
