Germany will allocate an additional €60 million to Ukraine: what will the funds be used for

€50 million for humanitarian aid

Germany will direct €50 million for Ukraine's humanitarian needs. Funds will go to UN organizations and non-governmental organizations that work with the population near the front line.

Funding is planned to be used for the most urgent needs of the civilian population, in particular:

  • - repair of damaged buildings;

  • - installation of mobile sanitary installations;

  • - purchase of heating equipment;

  • - other urgent help on the eve of winter.

Separately, Germany plans to transfer to Ukraine additional generators for the development of decentralized energy supply.

Another €10 million — through NATO

Yet Germany will contribute €10 million to the NATO trust fund, created to support Ukraine.

These funds are planned to be used to strengthen Ukraine's capabilities, in particular for:

  • - decentralized energy supply of the Armed Forces;

  • - rescue equipment for military hospitals;

  • - systems of protection against drones.

The German Foreign Minister announced a new aid package Johann Wadeful during a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga in Kyiv on August 22.

Germany continues to finance the reconstruction of Ukraine

The new package was another contribution of Germany to support Ukraine.

Berlin has already announced about €50 million for the restoration of the new safe containment of the Chornobyl NPP, which was damaged by a Russian drone attack.

Thus, the new €60 million should help at the same time the civilian population of the frontline regions to survive the winter and strengthen certain areas of support for Ukrainian defense.
