Limits on transfers from card to card in 2026: how much can be transferred without asking the bank

Card-to-card transfers are a common daily transaction for millions of Ukrainians. There are many fears around her: the account will be blocked, tax will be charged, she will be called "on the carpet" to the bank. Let's analyze, without emotions, what really works in 2026 and how to convey calmly.

What has changed since March 2026

The main news is simple. The NBU's mandatory limit of UAH 150,000 per month for transfers between personal cards has been cancelled. The regulator no longer sets a single "ceiling" for everyone. It was this limit that used to scare the most - now it is gone.

Does this mean there are no limits at all?

No. And this is the key point. Instead of a single rule, the NBU operates internal rules of each bank, agreed within the bank memorandum. Each institution itself determines the thresholds at which an operation requires additional attention or supporting documents.

In practice, this means: your bank has a limit, it's just that it is now "its" and not common to the market. You can find out the exact numbers in the tariffs or support of your bank.

When financial monitoring works

Financial monitoring is not a punishment, but a check. The bank is obliged to monitor transactions that look atypical. It is not the fact of the transfer itself that attracts attention, but pattern:

  • a sudden burst of activity on the card that is not like your usual behavior;
  • many incomes of the same type from different people (a sign of a hidden business on a personal card);
  • systematic large sums without a clear source;
  • attempts to artificially "break" a large amount into many small transfers.

If you are simply repaying a debt to a friend, discounting a gift or transferring money to family, these are ordinary household transactions, and there is nothing to be afraid of.

What is changing for FOP

Entrepreneurs are a separate story. For FOP in 2026 will be introduced staged limits: the first stage — from August 14, the second — from November 14, 2026. The logic is simple: business income should go to the FOP account, not to a personal card.

If you are a sole proprietorship and accept payments from customers on a regular personal card, it's time to transfer payments to a business account. The exact parameters of the stages should be clarified with your bank closer to the dates - they will be detailed separately.

How to convey so that there are no questions

A few simple rules remove most of the risks:

  • use the card as intended: personal — for personal expenses, FOP — for business;
  • do not divide the amounts artificially - this is exactly the sign that financial monitoring responds to;
  • keep confirmation of large receipts (agreement, receipt, purpose of payment);
  • for regular large amounts, check the limits with your bank in advance.

What to do if the card is still blocked

Blocking is not a sentence. Usually, the bank asks to confirm the origin of the funds. Action algorithm:

  • contact the bank's support and find out the reason;
  • provide documents explaining receipts;
  • after verification, access is restored.

Result

There is no longer a single limit of UAH 150,000 — instead, the internal rules of banks and the logic of financial monitoring work. For ordinary household transfers, nothing has changed: transfer calmly. But FOP should prepare for the phased limits in August and November 2026 and transfer business calculations to a business account.
