GDP again showed positive dynamics
According to the State Statistics Service:
- real GDP increased by 0.4% compared to the first quarter of 2026 (taking into account the seasonal factor);
- -in annual terms, the economy added 0.6% compared to the second quarter of 2025.
The department notes that this is an operational assessment formed on the basis of previous statistical data on the main sectors of the economy. Detailed indicators will be published in September.
That supported economic growth
According to financial analyst Andrii Shevchyshyn, the main drivers of the economy are state expenditures and the growth of the population's income.
The average salary increased by 23.1%, which supported consumer demand and provided 9 percent growth in retail trade.
At the same time, there is little negative impact import growth by 21.3%, which reduces the contribution of net exports to the gross domestic product.

Which industries showed the best results
Among the main sectors of the economy, the largest growth was demonstrated by:
- cargo transportation — +10%;
- export of goods and services — +7.7%, in particular thanks to the activation of supplies before the introduction of new EU quotas;
- industry — +0.9%, mainly due to machine building and the mining industry.

Forecast until the end of the year
Experts expect the economy to continue growing, although the pace of recovery will remain moderate.
GDP growth forecast for third quarter reduced to 1.2%, and on fourth quarter — to 1.3%. Further dynamics will depend on the security situation, the state of the energy infrastructure, the operation of sea ports and the results of the agricultural season.
In general, according to the results 2026 year is expected economic growth of about 0.7%, which will testify to the preservation of gradual recovery despite military challenges.
